The Fallen Heroes pictured below represent the tragic human cost of the British Forces campaign in Afghanistan
since October 2001 and the conflict in Iraq since March 2003.
Servicemen from this area who have given their lives in active service in Afghanistan include Private Robert Foster, 19, from Harlow in Essex, who died on 23 August, 2007 in a so-called "friendly fire" incident that also killed two other British soldiers.
